As part of our ongoing product development, we continuously improve the ZMS-206 and ZMS-208 display switches through feature enhancements and firmware updates.
Because of these updates, some newly manufactured devices may use different Zigbee device signatures (Device IDs) than earlier versions. In certain cases, this can affect how the switches are recognized by Home Assistant’s ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation) integration.
To provide a better user experience, we have released an updated ZHA custom quirk with broader device support and improved compatibility.
Why Was This Update Necessary?
The ZMS-206 and ZMS-208 are continuously evolving products, and firmware improvements are released regularly.
As a result, device signatures may vary between different production batches.
Some users may experience the following issues when adding the switch to Home Assistant through ZHA:
- The device is not recognized correctly
- Some entities are missing
- Certain functions are unavailable
- Different firmware versions behave differently
The updated quirk was created to solve these compatibility issues and provide a more consistent experience across all supported devices.
What’s New in This Release?
Unified Support for Both Models
The latest version combines support for both:
- ZMS-206
- ZMS-208
Expanded Device Signature Support
We’ve added compatibility for newly introduced device signatures and updated firmware versions.
Better Compatibility Across Different Production Batches
The new quirk helps ensure more consistent behavior, regardless of when the device was manufactured.
